If you’re into puns, you’re gonna love Knead, a new sandwich and salad shop in Sheung Wan (just look up #ikneadasandwich on Instagram).
The cute lil shop on Jervois Street offers sandwiches made with fresh-baked bread from quinoa to rye, sourdough and baguette plus salads with various toppings to choose from at quite reasonable prices. Sandwiches start at HK$55 while salads start at HK$60.

They’ve also got coffee, tea, beer and wine for drinks and the space is quite creatively done, with plywood tables, HK-themed cushions and illustrated bathrooms.
On my first visit I tried the baby spinach salad with beetroot, smoked mackerel and grilled eggplant, which was quite light. The spinach was actually larger than baby spinach, and the beetroot extra crunchy. With the house vinaigrette it was quite tasty, and I’d recommend this saladΒ for days when you’re not too hungry.

If you’re not on a carb-free diet, the bread smelled amazing as it’s all freshly baked, and I’d definitely go back to try one of their sandwiches next time.
Fun fact: The owner(?) of Knead Hong Kong seems to be Dutch as she was speaking it to a friend on my second visit. That would make a lot of sense as one of my favourite sandwich shops is in Amsterdam (Singel 404) and makes a ton of a-ma-zing open faced sandwiches! And Holland generally has a lot of good bread and cheese (and of course, sandwiches). Lekker! π
